background

Villa Sparina was founded by the Moccagatta family in the 1970s and now farms around 70–100 hectares, with the majority of the estate planted to Cortese. The winery’s Gavi line is known for its distinctive golden bottle shape, inspired by an antique vase found on the property. The wines are prized for bright acidity, mineral/saline character, and notes of apple, citrus, and stone fruit — the estate’s Gavi di Gavi and cru Monterotondo bottling both showcase the terroir’s acid, savory, and mineral qualities that contribute to the wine’s ageability.
